Signed by Middlesbrough FC on 1 July 2018, having previously been at Fulham’s academy, he made his League Cup debut on 14 August, appearing as a substitute against Notts County FC at Riverside Stadium. Djed Spence made his league debut in a 1-0 win against Charlton Athletic on December 7, 2019, and scored his first league goal in a 1-0 win against Huddersfield Town on the 26th of that same month.

On 11th January 2020, he won the EFL Young Player of the Month award, following his league debut, his first goal, and his three goalless games.

Nottingham Forest

On 1 September 2021, it was announced that Djed Spence would join Nottingham Forest FC on loan for the remainder of the season. Djed Spence scored his first goal for Forest in a 3-0 win against Birmingham City FC on 2 October. He impressed in FA Cup victories against Premier League clubs Arsenal FC and Leicester City FC, scoring the fourth in a 4–1 win over the latter, 10 which led to a transfer to some of the biggest clubs in the world, such as Arsenal, Manchester United FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC, and Bayern Munich. 

He was awarded the EFL Championship Player of the Month award for March 2022. In addition to being nominated for the Goal of the Month award after his long-range goal against Queens Park Rangers FC (which he ultimately won). 15 Having also been nominated for the Championship’s young player of the season award, he clinched a treble of awards in March 2022 by winning the EFL’s young player of the month award for the second time in his career. Tottenham Hotspur

On July 19, 2022, Djed Spence’s signing for Tottenham Hotspur FC was announced until 2027. The London club bought Djed Spence from Middlesbrough for a reported fee of 20 million euros. Coincidentally, Djed Spence made his debut for Tottenham in a match against Nottingham Forest (A 2-0 victory).

English National Team

In March 2022, Djed Spence obtained his first international call-up with the England under-21 team for the qualifying matches of the 2023 Under-21 Euro Cup against Andorra and Albania. He made his debut as a substitute during the 3-0 victory for the Three Lions.
