are heading to a heavy metal concert in the Midwest. Along the way,
they meet a trio of seemingly fun-loving guys and eventually go to a
secluded country home for what seems to be an exciting after-party. Soon
it takes a dark, deadly turn.
In signing on for this project, Daddario found her second project
getting to act as producer, having made her debut in the
behind-the-scenes role as executive producer on the 2019 romantic comedy
Can You Keep a Secret?, and described taking on a producer role for
Darkness as “way too much responsibility,” followed by laughter and
describing it as a “great” experience.
”I think I’m in a position now where I can help get financing for films, which is sort of where that producer credit comes from,” Daddario said. “But then, it also allows you to bring to the table what you can bring to the table. And I’ve been doing this for 20 years now, and I have certain things that I can help the film with. And I think that that’s, as far as being a woman and empowering yourself, I think that that’s a really important thing that I was looking to do and I’ve done it on a couple of films now and I found it to be really rewarding. And I found that I’ve been able to help when I can help. And I know when to step away when it’s not my area of expertise.”

comedies, but horror comedy speaks to me,” Daddario said. “Then horror, I

can actually have a lot to explore there. And I like the elevated level
of an absurd world, and that’s definitely all in this script.”
“There are some things you expect, but most of the big things you
don’t expect,” Daddario said. “That’s what makes it really fun, and I
thought that it was done really well in a way that wasn’t super cliché. I
think that’s why people are responding to it.”
6. She has another funny story about her high school dating experience:
“I went to an all-girls school, so I didn’t really date. But one time—oh it was so embarrassing—I sat in front of a mirror when I was 15 for like, two hours putting on makeup for this date where my friend was setting me up with her friend, and we were going to go to the movies. I thought I looked so gorgeous, I had put on all this eyeliner and had gone through my mother’s makeup. We had this date and it was really awkward and he was like, “Bye!” Then the next day my friend calls and said that he had called and said that I was wearing too much makeup and that I looked weird. I must have looked like a clown or something, I didn’t know what I was doing! So that was a sort of sad date.”

“My female co stars and I spent the most time together, and we all
had a really great sense of humor about things and a level of an
understanding of the world as being totally absurd and also very
serious,” Daddario recalled.
“So the comedy I think they helped bring out was amazing. One of my
favorite memories was, I think I went with Amy Forsyth, this wasn’t on
set, but we went to the Wal-Mart and bought like, unicorn onesies and
then painted or something. We just were able to do silly things together
on our off-time that I think helped develop the relationship that you

experience the era.

problems played by Alexandra Daddario. The actress sat down with Screen
Rant to speak about her acting saying:
“I sort of like exploring myself…. I knew I could pull it off, but I was intrigued by the role. I think that one of the beautiful things
is it’s a little meditational; you sort of get to this
place where you can’t plan out what you’re doing.
In particular with something like this, that’s highly emotional and
dark and you don’t know what the other person is going to be next,
you’re really reacting. You have to get yourself lost in the moment and
sort of see what happens. I was surprised sometimes, when I got into
that sort of meditational lost place, by what would happen.
That’s what’s really fun, when you don’t plan and maybe you over prepare. And then when you get there, you have to let it all go and just see what happens. I like to see the scenes take on a life of their own in that way.
